Questers Craft Group

Term 4 2009

There are currently 45 members in the Questers group.

The Heritage Quilt

• Term 4 has been spent on completing the Heritage Quilt, celebrating Ruyton’s 130th year in 2008.
• We have had input from 19 Questers members under the guidance of Jennifer Seton.
• We hope to have it framed and ready to be hung at the start of next year.

Questers' Stalls 2009

Questers has held three successful stalls during the year, for Mother's Day, Father's Day and Easter.

Uthando Doll Project

• We have collected 14 dolls from the school community and these will be sent to South Africa by the end of the year.
• The dolls are given to children in South Africa, mainly Zulu children, who live in poverty and are deeply affected by the HIV/Aids pandemic and childhood diseases.
• The dolls are used as an invitation to play. This play may help the child with grief and loss. To own and play with their own doll encourages a child's development in all spheres: physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual.

Fare Share

Located in Abbotsford, Fare Share is a charitable group which rescues food to feed the hungry.  A group of Questers members volunteer monthly to help with this project.  This is our second year of volunteering with this organisation.

2010 Projects

Questers is currently seeking a new President, as Mandy Farrell (who has headed the group for 5 years) will be moving on in 2011.

In 2010 it is planned to:

• Hold 3 stalls (Easter, Mother’s & Father’s Day Stalls)

• Frame the Heritage Quilt

• Embroidery for the new Junior School building project, The Centre for Creativity.    An embroidery piece is underway; it is of school girls, the Ruyton Crest and flowers which will be hung in the new Junior School reception on completion of the building project. This embroidery is being done by Margot Waters and Kim Baker (both Year 12 parents next year).

• Ideas are being formulated for the planned poles in the new Junior School Undercroft to be mosaics.  We are looking at skipping girls for one of the poles (this is being designed by Prep Mum, Jenny Woollard).
