Ruyton Rhythmic Gymnastics


It has been an extremely successful year for Ruyton RG’s top athletes.
January saw our top fiveathletes travel to USA to compete in a series of high level competitions, the girls gaining exceptional results against top international gymnasts.

Senior International: 8th All Around - Morgan Lewis
Junior International: Team Gold, 1st All Around, Gold on Ball, Clubs, Silver Rope - Taylor Tirahardjo
Level 9 Senior: 3rd AA, Gold Ribbon & Hoop, Silver Ball - Bianca Strugnell
Level 9 Junior: Team Gold, 2nd All Around, Silver Rope, Hoop, Ball

LA LIGHTS Tournament of Champions

Senior International All Around - 17th / 27th
Junior International All Around - 10th
Level 9 Snr All Around - 19th
Level 9 Jnr all Around - 22nd

Our top junior athlete along with the Ruyton RG coach went on to represent Australia at the World Cup event in Montreal where Emma Taylor was the highest ranked Australian finishing 12th all around and qualifying for two apparatus finals.

Our top international gymnasts competed in a National Trial for selection into the Australian team competing in the Pacific Rim Championships in April.


Both girls gained excellent results. Morgan Lewis, in her first national event as a senior gymnast, placed fourth overall, beating several World Championship representatives and past national champions. Morgan was then selected for the final Commonwealth Games squad of six.  Morgan was also named reserve for the Senior Pacific Rim team.

Our top junior gymnast won the Junior Selection Trial and was selected into the Australian team for the Pacific Rim. Emma Taylor was named national coach for this event.

• Seven Ruyton RG gymnasts competed in the 2010 Victorian Championships with outstanding results:
o Senior International: first all round, 4 x Gold in Apparatus Finals
o Junior International: first all round, 4 x Gold in Apparatus Finals
o Level 10: Senior International: first and second all round, 4 x Gold, 4 x Silver in Apparatus Finals
o Level 8: Senior International: first all round, 3 x Gold, 1 silver in Apparatus Finals
o Level 8 Jnr: Senior International: second all round, 4 x Silver in Apparatus Finals
o Level 7: Senior International: second all round, 2 x Silver, 2 x Bronze in Apparatus Finals
All seven were announced in the 2010 Victorian Team.

• NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, Perth Highlights of Ruyton Results
o Jnr International: second all round, 3 x Gold, 1 Silver in Apparatus Finals
o Snr International: sixth all round, 1x Bronze in apparatus Final
o Level 10: second all round, 2 x Silver, 1 Bronze in Apparatus Finals
o Level 8: fifth all round, Team Gold, 1 x Gold in Apparatus Final

• Jnr International Gymnast announced as soul individual Australian Rhythmic gymnast to compete at Youth Olympic Games in Singapore

• Level 10 and Level 8 gymnasts selected in the 2010 Australian Levels team to tour New Zealand in September

• Junior competitive squads won several medals at their first competition for the year at the multiples invitational.
